Cycles Couples Counseling

What is teletherapy?

Teletherapy is a convenient technology assisted way for you to participate in therapy without every stepping foot in an office. Right now all our sessions at CCC are via telehealth using Simple Practice HIPAA compliant software. This can be accessed via phone, iPad or laptop.

Are you the right counselor for me?

We understand finding the perfect therapist can be daunting, but we're here to make that process as easy as possible. We provide a free phone consultation to assess your needs and goals to see if Cycles Couples Counseling is the right fit for you.

Do you take insurance?

Most insurance companies do not cover couples counseling, as there are no billable two person diagnosi. However, we do take HSA or flex-spending dollars.

Unfortunately, If you bill through insurance, they get to decide how many sessions you will get. Privacy is also not guaranteed as some information would then be stored in the Medical Information Bureau which can affect future insurers and employment.

For this reason, we will be happy to provide you with an itemized receipt to submit to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement. Insurance providers' policies on out-of-network reimbursement vary, so please check with your insurance company as to what they will cover.

How long will couples counseling take?

The short answer: it depends. Emotionally Focused Therapy is meant to be a short term model of couples therapy.

Counseling timelines vary depending on relationship history, communication styles, emotional expression and the presence of trauma. Your therapist will guide you through the process and be able to provide an appropriate road map of when to end counseling.

What happens in the first counseling session?

In your first session we will get to know each other. We will help you to identify your unique needs and become clearer about your goals. We will help you recognize your triggers and notice what you typically do with these feelings and how that affects you and those around you.

Our goal is to make sure you feel understood and comfortable leaving your first session.

What if my partner won't come to couples therapy?

While couples counseling works best with both partners, it's okay to come on your own. Fortunately, we offer relationship counseling for one.

We will help you to explore and put words to your emotional stuck points and communicate them to your partner in a more organized way. For many, this process of self exploration is a beneficial way to side step your current negative cycle and improve your communication.

Will you ever tell us to break up?

Obviously, as relationship therapists we take a biased stance on trying to strengthen and preserve the health of your bond. This means we believe in fighting for your relationship. We have seen many couples have a big turn around after participating in EFT therapy, and we strive to help you get those same results.

However, if you decide you need to leave or end your current relationship, we are here to bring you resolution. We can help you have more vulnerable and caring conversations to create the best goodbye possible for your unique situation.
